Children in a Pandemic world

“Yes, I am afraid of the coronavirus.” “I am so bored at home. I don’t know what else I can do to occupy myself…” These were some responses from children (from Ipoh) when asked how they feel about living in a time which has been affected by the coronavirus. We have been hearing from government as to what to look out for in order to keep safe, we have been hearing from medical professionals in their assessment of the virus and with rightful concern, we watch out for news which track the spread of the virus, locally and globally. Perhaps a group which we need to hear from are the children. How are they doing during this whole time when they receive a barrage of instructions from the adults what they can do and cannot do, what they should do and cannot do? This is not a normal life for them and maybe, some may be perplexed; they need to know how they can make sense of the world going through a time which also frustrates the adults.

In the upcoming Children’s Holiday Club programme, Pandemic, we hope and pray to hear from the children who will come online to join us. We will be teaching them what scriptures say about the world being subjected to corruption and decay due to sin and also the good news in the Lord Jesus Christ who redeems by His death. The Lord’s resurrection promised new life and His return promised a restoration of all things.

Romans 8:23-25 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

We pray that through God’s word, the children will be able to live the present time in trust in the Lord so that they may not fear.

So help spread the word around and invite the children to join us on 13 June 2021.
