STRENGTHENING OUR CHURCHES
In the January Update, we spelled out the 3-fold agenda of BPCIS in the coming years: Devoting to Prayer, Building Bridges, and Strengthening our Churches, captured in the acronym DBS 2.0.
Since then, we thank the Lord for the following developments. The Good Friday Service, with one theme and speaker but held at different locations, brought together more than 1,500 onsite and another 1,725 online. Pastor Ivan Chow of Bethesda Church, Bukit Arang, gave a stirring message, “One Sacrifice, Once and for All”. The offering for BPCIS totalled $30,051.35.
We welcomed Hebron BP Church which joined BPCIS as our 10th member church on 10 March. Hebron promptly hosted the DMA Seminarl on 30 April. Jointly sponsored by Biblical Graduate School of Theology and BPCIS, the seminar brought together 30 invited leaders from our 10 churches to consider pastoral implications from the newly introduced legislation, Divorce by Mutual Agreement. A brief report is found on our website, BPCIS.org.sg.
We look forward to two upcoming events: the Pastors & Leaders Retreat on 4-5 July at Changi Cove with Pastor Denesh of The Crossing Church as speaker, and the Annual Presbytery Meeting on 24 Sep at Mount Hermon’s new home at Henderson. For the latter we will not have a guest speaker this year. Instead, under the theme “Returning”, our churches will share on how the post-pandemic world looks like in their churches, and we spend time in prayer.
Finally, in April we add Joseph Tee (Zion Serangoon) to three men already preparing for ordination: Paul Yeo and Ng Zhiwen (Zion Bishan), David Leong (Emmanuel). We also welcome to the Presbytery newly elected elders: Loh Pin Chuan and Lai Pak Wah (Mount Carmel), Aric Loh (Shalom), Timothy Soh (Zion Serangoon), and Chan Kin Yip (Zion Bishan). May all that is happening go on to strengthen our churches.
